Rebel forces strike back against the Evil Empire? |

This picture seems to demonstrate the public's frustration with speed cameras, It's not surprising. Imagine if you were a honest, decent tax paying motorist with thirty years of problem free motoring behind you and one day for a few seconds you lose concentration and momentarily go from thirty to thirty six miles per hour in the wrong place - BANG YOU'RE DONE! - three points and a fine. This kind of justice is an incredibly blunt instrument and no doubt does a very good job in losing the police the support of the public, in fact I know it does. In the case I've described a warning would be quite adequate. Providing your not going outrageously over the limit a first offence should not count against you, after all we're only human? I recently heard a news report that the police have a really high tech camera that can catch you speeding a mile away,.......fantastic. Unfortunately they have yet to come up with anything that will catch a street mugger attacking a pensioner a mile away, or a rapist, or a vandal, or some one defacing property with graffiti. Have the police thought about getting people with no licence or insurance off the road? Can a greed, sorry, speed camera do that? Take a look at this site www.speedcameras.org |
